MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a potentially disabling disease of the brain and spinal cord (central nervous system).
In MS, the immune system attacks the protective sheath (myelin) that covers nerve fibers and causes communication problems between your brain and the rest of your body. Eventually, the disease can cause the nerves themselves to deteriorate or become permanently damaged.

Dr. Ibiza Nevares designs a treatment plan that is designed to help a person with MS function at the highest level of treatment possible considering the limitations he or she may have. The treatment involves exercise of various kinds, any assistive devices that may be needed to promote mobility and safety, and medications.

STROKE
A stroke occurs when the blood supply to part of your brain is interrupted or severely reduced, depriving brain tissue of oxygen and nutrients. Within minutes, brain cells begin to die.

A good physical therapy and rehabilitation is important in treating stroke patients to recover. Dr. Nevares will develop each patient's individualized care plan for the optimization of the recovery of her patients.

NECK PAIN, LOWER BACK PAIN, SHOULDER PAIN
Neck pain occurs from neck muscles which are strained from poor posture. It can be due to working on the computer or on your workbench. Osteoarthritis also is a common cause of neck pain.

Lower back pain can be caused by a variety of problems with any parts of the complex, interconnected network of spinal muscles, nerves, bones, discs or tendons in the lumbar spine.

Pain in the shoulder can be due to an injury or disease. An injury can involve the ligaments, bursae, or tendons surrounding the shoulder joint, the cartilage, menisci (plural for meniscus), or bones of the joint. Pain can also occur in the shoulder from diseases and conditions that involve the shoulder joint, the soft tissues and bones surrounding the shoulder, or the nerves that supply sensation to the shoulder area.

Dr. Nevares will provide you with a combination of medical and therapeutic treatment for pain. Using injections, medications, and rehabilitation she will help to cure the pain.

BALANCE PROBLEMS/GAIT PROBLEMS
Dr. Nevares will formulate a plan of care to work on helping the patients to improve balance, coordination and safety. State of the art 3-D exercises are available.

PARKINSON'S DISEASE
A disorder of the central nervous system that affects movement, often including tremors. Dr. Nevares will do a comprehensive evaluation of the gait and balance deficits, and prescribe a plan of care for the physical therapists to address your balance problems.

SPINAL STENOSIS
Spinal stenosis is a narrowing of the open spaces within your spine, which can put pressure on your spinal cord and the nerves that travel through the spine to your arms and legs. Spinal stenosis occurs most often in the lower back and the neck.

HERNIATED DISC
A herniated disc is a condition in which the annulus fibrosus (outer portion) of the vertebral disc is torn, enabling the nucleus (inner portion) to herniate or extrude through the fibers.

POLIO
A serious disease that affects the nerves of the spine and often makes a person permanently unable to move particular muscles

REHABILTATION OF FRACTURES & JOINT REPLACEMENTS
Dr. Nevares has 20+ years of experience rehabilitating patients after total joint replacements and fractures. A combination of modalities as needed to control the pain and inflammation, along with therapeutic exercises will be customized for each individual patient.
